Important game to mention about took place in Ariano Irpino. Third ranked San Pietro (8-2) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Irpino (5-5) 66-63 on Sunday evening. Irpino was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. San Pietro dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Irpino's 26. Irpino was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Federica Brunetti (184-88, agency: Players Group) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Israeli point guard Federica Franceschelli (180-97) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. San Pietro's coach Paolo Seletti allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Naturalized Argentinian guard Valentina Maggi (174-85) came up with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Rosa Cupido (173-92) added 14 points and 5 steals respectively for Irpino in the defeat. San Pietro maintains third place in A2 with 8-2 record having four points less than leader Ferrara. Irpino at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. San Pietro will play against Salerno (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Irpino will play against Bologna (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
