Regular Season Round 17: Guangdong ST - TianJin S. 131-108

No shocking result in a game in Dongguan where third ranked Guandong Tigers (14-3) outleveled bottom-ranked TianJin Steel (2-15) 131-108. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. TianJin Steel was better in third quarter 35-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers players were unselfish on offense dishing 36 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by TianJin Steel's players. The former international forward Peng Zhou (210-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 34 points (!!!). The former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) contributed with 30 points and 7 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Jason Maxiell (201-83, college: Cincinnati) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Zhihan Zhang (198-91) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for TianJin Steel. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers maintains third place with 14-3 record behind leader Xinjiang FT. TianJin Steel at the other side stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Guandong Tigers' next round opponent will be league's leader Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi and it will be for sure the game of the week. TianJin Steel will play on the road against DongGuan Leopards (#9) and hope to win that game.
