Top ranked Scafati (9-3) recorded its third loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Agrigento (8-4) 72-70. Scafati was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 20-14 charge of Agrigento, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American swingman Kelvin Martin (195-89, college: Charleston So.) who scored 21 points. Guard Andrea Saccaggi (191-89) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston) who recorded 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import point guard Josh Mayo (181-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Agrigento maintains third position in A2 with 8-4 record having just two points less than leader C.de Latte BRE. Scafati at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. Agrigento are looking forward to face Viola RC (#13) in Reggio Calabria in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Scafati will play on the road against La Briosa BRC (#16) in Barcellona and is hoping to win this game.
