Regular Season Round 7: Qatar - Al Jaysh 58-79

Date: December 13, 2015
Another exciting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Doha: Al Jaysh (#4) and Qatar Sports Club (#9). Qatar Sports Club was crushed at home by 21 points 58-79 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Al Jaysh. Qatar Sports Club was better in fourth quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Qatar Sports Club to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 56-27 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Jaysh looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Qatar Sports Club's players. American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Fadi Abilmona chipped in 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. American swingman Rashad Woods (197-86, college: Kent St.) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Malcolm White (205-88, college: LSU) added 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for lost side. Al Jaysh (5-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Gharafa. Qatar Sports Club lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Al Jaysh's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Shamal.
