Very expected game in Walbrzych where 6th ranked WKK Wroclaw (5-5) was defeated by second ranked Gornik (8-2) 70-59 on Sunday. Gornik forced 19 WKK Wroclaw turnovers and outrebounded them 42-23 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Marcin Wrobel (200-87) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Rafal Glapinski (183-82) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four Gornik players scored in double figures. Forward Szymon Kiwilsza (202-97) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Jakub Kobel (184-98) added 18 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gornik maintains second place with 8-2 record having just three points less than leader Polonia Leszno, which they share with Asseco II. Loser WKK Wroclaw dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Gornik will face Otmuchow (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. WKK Wroclaw will play against Gniezno and hope to win that game.
