Regular Season Round 12: Gdynia - Wisla Krakow 87-78

Round 12 in BLK means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Gdynia where host Gdynia (7-3) beat league's leader Wisla Krakow (10-1) 87-78 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Wisla Krakow. Wisla Krakow trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 23-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 78-87 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Wisla Krakow 40-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. Gdynia looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Agnieszka Bibrzycka (184-82, college: Abil.Christian) who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Montenegrin guard Jelena Skerovic (176-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Spanish point guard Cristina Ouvina (173-90) who recorded 21 points and Spanish center Laura Nicholls (189-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gdynia moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Wisla Krakow dropped to the second position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Polkowice. Wisla Krakow will play next round against MUKS Poznan trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Gdynia will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Widzew in Lodz.
