Regular Season Round 10: Adelaide - SEQ 61-72

Date: December 13, 2015
Rather expected game when 8th ranked Adelaide Lightning (4-8) was defeated at home by sixth ranked SEQ (6-7) 72-61 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by SEQ. Adelaide Lightning was better in second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Jordan Hooper (188-92, college: Nebraska) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Lauren Mansfield (170-89, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four SEQ players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) responded with 7 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Alex Ciabattoni (183-94) scored 13 points. Adelaide Lightning's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted SEQ maintains sixth position with 6-7 record, which they share with Melbourne. Loser Adelaide Lightning keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. SEQ will face higher ranked Townsville Fire (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Adelaide Lightning will play against Canberra Capitals (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
