Regular Season Round 11: Barbera - Cornella 59-66

Everything went according to plan in Barcelona where fifth ranked Cornella (5-4) won against 8th ranked Barbera (4-7) 66-59 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Barbera won third quarter 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Barbera 34-21 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Cuban center Rangel Ramirez (206-75) who scored 13 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Swingman Adrian Martinez (191-96) chipped in 15 points. Jose Bernuz (198-81) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Ivan Llull (185-92) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cornella moved-up to fourth place in Group C-A. Newly promoted Barbera keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Cornella will face Sant Nicolau (#9) in Sabadell in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Barbera will play on the road against the league's leader Quart and hope to win that game.
