Regular Season Round 11: Petrochimi - Chemidor 83-50

The game between Top Four teams took place in Bandar Imam. Second ranked host Petrochimi (10-2) smashed one of their biggest challengers Chemidor (9-3) 83-50. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chemidor. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Chemidor took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Petrochimi had a 24-7 second period charge getting the lead and Chemidor was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 50-83. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Chemidor to just 7 points in second quarter. Petrochimi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Chemidor's 32. Petrochimi forced 19 Chemidor turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by international swingman Saeed Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 21 points and international Behnam Yakhchali (197-95) supported him with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Even 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks by international center Mohammad Torabi (211-92) did not help to save the game for Chemidor. International Oshin Sahakian (200-86) added 9 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Naft Abadan. Newly promoted Chemidor keeps the third place with three games lost. Petrochimi will play against league's leader Naft Abadan at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chemidor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tehran to the arena Army.
