Regular Season Round 11: S.Jose/Unimed - Paulistano 83-77

Round 11 in NBB means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Sao Jose where host Sao Jose/Vinac (4-5) beat league's leader Paulistano (8-1) 83-77 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Paulistano. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 46-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Sao Jose/Vinac made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Caue Freitas (188-88) chipped in 6 points and 10 assists. Sao Jose/Vinac's coach Cristiano Ahmed used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and forward Germerson Barbosa (202-93) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Sao Jose/Vinac maintains tenth place with 4-5 record. Paulistano at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Bauru. Paulistano will play next round against strong Mogi trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Sao Jose/Vinac will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Liga Sorocaba in Sorocabana.
