No shocking result in a game in Mogi das Cruzes where fifth ranked Mogi (6-3) defeated bottom-ranked Liga Sorocaba (2-7) 93-84 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Liga Sorocaba won fourth quarter 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mogi looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Liga Sorocaba's players. The best player for the winners was Guilherme Filipin (185-83) who scored 27 points. The former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists. Four Mogi players scored in double figures. Guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) produced 30 points and 4 steals and power forward Luiz Paulo Dos Santos (206-89, college: Slippery Rock) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Mogi moved-up to fourth place. Liga Sorocaba lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Mogi will face league's second-placed Paulistano in Sao Paolo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liga Sorocaba will play on the road against Sao Jose/Vinac (#10) and hope to win that game.
