Regular Season Round 10: Sokhumi - MIA Academy 95-69

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#3) and MIA (#8). Sokhumi (6-4) smashed visiting MIA (1-8) by 26 points 95-69. The game was mostly controlled by Sokhumi. MIA was better in third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to MIA's 26. Sokhumi forced 24 MIA turnovers and outrebounded them 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by MIA helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) fired 8 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. American point guard Phillip Miller (185-91, college: Wiley) chipped in 21 points and 6 steals. American power forward Maurice Lewis-Briggs (203-90, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Mansfield and Associates) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian guard Emerson Murray (190-92, college: Seattle) added 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Four MIA players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sokhumi maintains third position with 6-4 record behind leader Kutaisi, which they share with Dinamo Tbilisi. Defending champion MIA stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. Sokhumi's next round opponent will be league's leader Kutaisi on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. MIA's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.
