Regular Season Round 18: Shanghai S. - North Control B. 106-85

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Shanghai Sharks (9-9) outscored at home 13th ranked North Control (7-11) 106-85. The game was mostly controlled by Shanghai Sharks. North Control was better in third quarter 34-31. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanghai Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to North Control's 44. They outrebounded North Control 52-34 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by North Control helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard A.J. Price (188-86, college: Connecticut) notched a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and forward Liang Cai (203-92) supported him with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Five Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) by American forward Dorell Wright (206-85) did not help to save the game for North Control. Iranian point guard Mahdi Kamrani (181-82) added 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shanghai Sharks maintains tenth position with 9-9 record. North Control lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Shanghai Sharks' next round opponent will be Jilin Tigers (#17) in Changchun and are hoping to win another game. North Control will play on the road against Sichuan BW (#4) and hope to win that game.
