Regular Season Round 18: Bayi R. - Qingdao E. 101-102

Important game to mention about took place in Ningbo. Eleventh ranked Qingdao Eagles (8-10) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 18th ranked Bayi Rockets (5-13) 102-101 on Wednesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Bayi Rockets won second period 26-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who saved his team from a defeat with 41 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Forward KangMing Song (208-87) contributed with 6 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Qingdao Eagles' coach XiaoBin Gong allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Hao Fu (206-98) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and the former international center ZhongHao Xu (212-90) added 16 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Bayi Rockets. Five Bayi Rockets players scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eleventh position with 8-10 record. Bayi Rockets at the other side dropped to the seventeenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Jilin NE T.. Qingdao Eagles will play against higher ranked Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (#7) in Hangzhou in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bayi Rockets will play at home against Beijing Ducks (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.
