Very predictable result when tenth ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (5-5) won against at home bottom-ranked Liga Sorocaba (2-8) 88-81. The hosts were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 32-25 Liga Sorocaba's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 88-81 at the end of the game. Sao Jose/Vinac made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Strangely Liga Sorocaba outrebounded Sao Jose/Vinac 43-30 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Liga Sorocaba's players. The best player for the winners was Pedro Lima (191-87) who scored 20 points. Guard Caue Freitas (188-88) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sao Jose/Vinac moved-up to seventh place. Liga Sorocaba lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Sao Jose/Vinac's next round opponent will be higher ranked Flamengo (#3) in Rio de Janeiro and it may be quite challenging game.
