Very expected game when 9th ranked Brasilia (4-4) lost at home to third ranked Flamengo (8-3) 94-85. It looked good early as Brasilia took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Flamengo took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 9 points. They made 25-of-27 charity shots (92.6 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Brasilia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international Marcelo Machado (201-75, agency: Interperformances) who scored 17 points and 5 assists. The former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) chipped in 19 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was international Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) who recorded 28 points and 4 assists and the former international point guard Fulvio de Assis (188-81) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively. Five Flamengo and four Brasilia players scored in double figures. Brasilia's coach Jose Carlos Vidal tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains third position with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Bauru. Defending champion Brasilia dropped to the tenth place with four games lost. Flamengo's next round opponent will be Sao Jose/Vinac (#7) at home.
