Regular Season Round 8: ASA Jerusalem - Elitzur Holon 91-73

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Elitzur Holon (1-7) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked ASA Jerusalem (3-4) 91-73 on Thursday. ASA Jerusalem dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Elitzur Holon's 36. ASA Jerusalem forced 22 Elitzur Holon turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Asia Taylor (185-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) who added 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Nigerian-American forward Atonye Nyingifa (180-90, college: UCLA, agency: Regeneracom Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international forward Shira Shecht (183-91, college: Monmouth) scored 29 points and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ASA Jerusalem maintains fifth position with 3-4 record. Elitzur Holon lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Hap.Petah Tikva. ASA Jerusalem will meet bottom-ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (#8) on the road in the next round. Elitzur Holon will play against Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
