Regular Season Round 19: Zhejiang CB - Qingdao E. 118-116

Eleventh-ranked Qingdao Eagles (8-11) were very close to win a game against seventh ranked Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (12-7) in Hangzhou on Friday. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank managed to secure only two-point victory 118-116. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Qingdao Eagles. Qingdao Eagles cut a 17-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Qingdao Eagles were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American point guard Willie Warren (193-89, college: Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording 49 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 45 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and center GengLin Yang (207-88) added 21 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Qingdao Eagles. Four Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank and five Qingdao Eagles players scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Beijing Ducks and Shandong FB. Loser Qingdao Eagles keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Hangzhou to the arena Zhejiang Guangsha Lions.
