Twelfth-ranked Denain Voltaire (3-6) was very close to win a game against third ranked JL Bourg (7-2) on Friday. JL Bourg managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Denain Voltaire won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JL Bourg made 25-of-27 free shots (92.6 percent) during the game. JL Bourg outrebounded Denain Voltaire 36-18 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Denain Voltaire was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American center Zachery Peacock (203-87, college: Georgia Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Georgi Joseph (197-82, college: Kennesaw St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. JL Bourg's coach Christophe Denis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Isaia Cordinier (194-96) answered with 20 points and American point guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) added 16 points in the effort for Denain Voltaire. Five JL Bourg and four Denain Voltaire players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for JL Bourg. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Boulogne. Denain Voltaire lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. JL Bourg will face Lille Metropole (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Denain Voltaire will play against Boulazac Basket and hope to win that game.
