There was no surprise when 13th ranked Brindisi (2-10) was crushed on the road by tenth ranked Empoli (6-6) 82-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. Empoli led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Empoli forced 21 Brindisi turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Francesca Rosellini (176-90) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) chipped in 14 points. Four Empoli players scored in double figures. Empoli's coach Alessio Cioni felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Valentina Siccardi (182-82) who recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Luigia Boccadamo (175-94) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Empoli moved-up to eighth place in A2. Brindisi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Empoli will face Civitanova (#10) in Civitanova Marche in the next round. Brindisi will play at home against Viterbo and hope to win that game.
