Regular Season Round 12: Trefl II Sopot - Itago Gdynia 87-66

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Trefl II Sopot and 10th ranked Itago Gdynia had identical 2-9 record. This time Trefl II Sopot used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Gdynia 87-66 on Saturday night. Trefl II Sopot dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Itago Gdynia's 26. Trefl II Sopot forced 24 Itago Gdynia turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Pawel Dzierzak (186-95) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals. Center Jakub Motylewski (210-95) contributed with 7 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Guard Tristan Balinski (187-88) replied with 22 points and Piotr Peksyk (196-91) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Itago Gdynia. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Trefl II Sopot (3-9) moved-up to ninth place in Group A. Itago Gdynia lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. Trefl II Sopot will face league's leader Kotwica in Kolobrzeg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Itago Gdynia will play on the road against TKM Wloclawek (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
