Regular Season Round 13: Torino - Cento 63-93

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Torino (1-12) was outplayed at home by sixth ranked Cento (8-5) 93-63 on Saturday. Cento dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Torino's 24 and had 22 for 33 from the free-throw line, while Torino only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Torino 47-25 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Torino was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Michele Benfatto (205-85) stepped up and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and swingman Lorenzo Brighi (195-94) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Five Cento players scored in double figures. Cento's coach Marco Albanesi felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Alessandro Panzieri (201-95, college: High School) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Manuel Di Matteo (190-96) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Cento maintains sixth place in B with 8-5 record. Loser Torino keeps the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. Cento will face higher ranked Piacenza (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Torino will play against Bottegone (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
