Regular Season Round 12: Ironi Nahariya - Maccabi Haifa 61-80

Date: December 19, 2015
The game in Nahariya was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Maccabi Haifa (6-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Ironi Nahariya (6-6). Maccabi Haifa did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 80-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Haifa. Ironi Nahariya managed to win fourth quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Haifa looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maccabi Haifa made 8 blocks. The winners were led by American swingman William Graves (198-88, college: N.Carolina) who scored that evening 24 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) supported him with 19 points and 5 assists. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV) did not help to save the game for Ironi Nahariya. American forward Gilbert Brown (198-87, college: Pittsburgh) added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi Haifa maintains fifth position with 6-5 record, which they share with Maccabi Ashdod. Ironi Nahariya lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Maccabi Haifa will meet at home Hapoel Eilat (#8) in the next round. Ironi Nahariya will play against Maccabi Ashdod and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
