Regular Season Round 8: Al Khor - Al Arabi 87-80

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Al Khor (4-3) beat at home 7th ranked Al Arabi (1-6) 87-80 on Saturday. Al Khor dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Al Arabi's 34. Al Khor forced 24 Al Arabi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American point guard Patrick Rembert (185-89, college: Cal-Irvine) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists and Ivorian-American swingman Charles Abouo (197-89, college: BYU, agency: Dynamics Global Management) supported him with 20 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Even 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists by Ibnomer Hamed did not help to save the game for Al Arabi. American point guard Temi Soyebo (183-84, college: NC-Wilmington) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the guests. Four Al Khor and five Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Al Khor maintains fifth position with 4-3 record. Al Arabi lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Al Khor will meet Al Wakrah (#6) on the road in the next round. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Qatar Sports Club.
