The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (10-3) on the court of sixth ranked Le Mans on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Le Mans 82-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. The game was mostly controlled by Le Mans. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket managed to win fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Le Mans dominated on the defensive end, holding ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket to just 4 points in third quarter. They outrebounded ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. Le Mans shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. American point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) stepped up and scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Chris Lofton (188-86, college: Tennessee) chipped in 17 points. Four Le Mans players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Trenton Meacham (190-85, college: Illinois) responded with 14 points and 6 assists and international Charles Kahudi (199-86, agency: Beo Basket) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Le Mans (8-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dijon and Strasbourg. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Monaco. Le Mans is looking forward to face JSF Nanterre (#8) on the road in the next round. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
