Gipuzkoa can celebrate finally their first win this season after ten consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Tenerife, where they edged CB Canarias (4-7) 74-72 on Saturday. CB Canarias was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 17-14 charge of Gipuzkoa, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to CB Canarias' 30. The best player for the winners was American forward Landon Milbourne (201-87, college: Maryland) who scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Center David Doblas (206-81) chipped in 14 points. Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. American forward Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and forward Javier Beiran (200-87) added 4 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. CB Canarias' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gipuzkoa maintains eighteenth place with 1-10 record. CB Canarias at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with UCAM Murcia and Sevilla. Gipuzkoa are looking forward to face higher ranked Laboral Kutxa (#4) in Vitoria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CB Canarias will play on the road against Sevilla (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
