Twelfth-ranked Puente Alto (7-13) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Las Animas (13-8). The visitors from Valdivia managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected much easier game. Las Animas made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Terrance Thomas (198-80, college: Baylor, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Nigerian forward Andrew Osemhen (206-92, college: Kennesaw St.) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Puente Alto players scored in double figures. Las Animas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-8 record having just two points less than leader CDU Concepcion, which they share with CD Valdivia. Puente Alto lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Las Animas will play against Colo Colo (#10) in Santiago in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Puente Alto will play at home against the league's leader Universidad de Concepcion and hopes to get back on the winning track.
