Regular Season Round 12: Stabia - La Spezia 56-80

There was no surprise in Stabia where 4th ranked Castellammare (6-6) was crushed by top-ranked La Spezia (12-0) 80-56 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 24 points. The best player for the winners was Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Laura Reani (183-96) chipped in 10 points. Five La Spezia players scored in double figures. La Spezia's coach Marco Corsolini felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Barbara Negri (184-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and center Maria Minervino (194-86) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Newly promoted La Spezia maintains second position in A2 with 12-0 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Ferrara. Loser Castellammare dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. La Spezia will face league's leader Ferrara at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Castellammare will play against Ancona (#12) and hope to win that game.
