Very expected game when 9th ranked Peli-Karhut (1-11) lost to third ranked HyPo (8-4) in Kotka 78-94 on Saturday. The game without a history. HyPo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. HyPo outrebounded Peli-Karhut 42-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. The former international forward Anni Makitalo (175-91) nailed 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and power forward Titta-Riina Lepisto (184-90) accounted for 22 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Amber Battle (175-93, college: Texas Tech, agency: Merit Management Group) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Roosa Lehtoranta (176-97) added 22 points respectively for Peli-Karhut in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. HyPo maintains third place with 8-4 record having fifteen points less than leader Catz. Peli-Karhut lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. HyPo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Peli-Karhut will play against Forssan Alku (#5) and hope to win that game.
