Regular Season Round 21: Mitsubishi K. - Denso Iris 55-76

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Mitsubishi K. (8-11) was outscored by fourth ranked Denso Iris (14-5) in Nagoya 76-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Denso Iris. Mitsubishi K. was better in third quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mitsubishi K. to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Denso Iris forced 20 Mitsubishi K. turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Denso Iris made 7 blocks. It was a good game for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Minami Iju (168-90) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Denso Iris' coach Hiroshi Kojima felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) answered with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and international center Asako O (189-87) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Mitsubishi K.The victory was the third consecutive win for Denso Iris. They maintain fourth place with 14-5 record. Mitsubishi K. lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Denso Iris will have a break next round. Mitsubishi K. will play again on the road against Denso Iris (#4) in Kariya and hope to win that game.
