Rather expected game in Salvador where 14th ranked Caxias do Sul (3-9) was defeated by eleventh ranked Universo/Vitoria (5-7) 74-65 on Sunday. Caxias do Sul was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 29-16 charge of Universo/Vitoria, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Caxias do Sul to just 7 points in first quarter. Universo/Vitoria made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Spanish Alvaro Calvo (202-83, agency: Dynamics Global Management) fired 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists.
