Regular Season Round 13: Campli - Vasto 87-44
Date: December 20, 2015
Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Vasto (2-11) was rolled over on the road by fourth ranked Campli (10-3) 87-44 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Campli. Vasto was better in fourth quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vasto to just 5 points in first quarter and to 11 points in first half. Campli dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Vasto's 28 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while Vasto only scored one point from the stripe. Campli forced 19 Vasto turnovers and had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international center Christian DiGiuliomaria (210-79) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and David Petrucci (188-85) chipped in 20 points. Five Campli players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized Serbian forward Marko Jovancic (195-93) responded with 13 points and guard Luca Di Tizio (195-90) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Campli moved-up to third place in B, which they share with Bergamo and Crema. Loser Vasto keeps the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. Campli will face Monteroni (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Vasto will play against Valmontone (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
