Regular Season Round 26: Fukuoka Rizing - Aomori Watts 71-66

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Aomori Watts (10-12) were defeated on the road by eighth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (10-14) 71-66 on Sunday. Aomori Watts were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Fukuoka Rizing, which allowed them to win the game. Fukuoka Rizing outrebounded Aomori Watts 49-27 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Donnavan Kirk (206-91, college: Miami, FL) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Taishiro Shimizu (183-81) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Fukuoka Rizing's coach Tomohiro Moriyama used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Jesse Perry (200-89, college: Arizona) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Fukuoka Rizing maintains eighth position with 10-14 record. Loser Aomori Watts dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will face league's second-placed Akita Happinets on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aomori Watts will play against Shiga L-Stars (#6) and hope to win that game.
