The game in Townsville was also quite interesting. 4th placed Dandenong Rangers (8-6) played at the court of fifth ranked Townsville Fire (8-5). Townsville Fire managed to secure a 9-point victory 70-61 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dandenong Rangers. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was the former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-80) who scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Cayla George (192-89) chipped in 7 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Townsville Fire players scored in double figures. International forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) produced 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Stephanie Cumming (178-90) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Loser Dandenong Rangers dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Townsville Fire will face Adelaide Lightning (#8) on the road in the next round. Dandenong Rangers will play against SEQ in Crestmead and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
