Regular Season Round 13: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Limoges 66-61

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Limoges CSP Elite (6-7) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (6-6) 66-61 on Sunday. Limoges CSP Elite was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-13 charge of Pau-Lacq-Orthez, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Steven Smith (203-83, college: La Salle) stepped up and scored 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) chipped in 17 points. At the losing side international forward Nobel Boungou-Colo (202-88) responded with 12 points (made all of his seven free throws) and German point guard Heiko Schaffartzik (183-84) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Pau-Lacq-Orthez moved-up to tenth place. Defending champion Limoges CSP Elite dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will face league's leader ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Limoges CSP Elite will play against Strasbourg IG (#6) and hope to win that game.
