Regular Season Round 14: Rio Claro - Brasilia 84-69
Date: December 22, 2015
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 11th ranked Brasilia (4-5) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Rio Claro (5-9) 84-69 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Rio Claro. Brasilia was better in fourth quarter 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rio Claro looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Brasilia's players. The best player for the winners was the former international Guilherme Teichmann (206-83, college: Tulsa) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international Andre Stefanelli (196-84) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Five Rio Claro players scored in double figures. Center Ronald Reis (211-91) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Fulvio de Assis (188-81) added 7 points and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rio Claro moved-up to eleventh place. Defending champion Brasilia dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Rio Claro will have a break next round. Brasilia will play at home against Minas (#7) and hope to win that game.
