Regular Season Round 17: Piestanske C. - Slovan 84-51

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Piestanske C. (13-2) crushed 6th ranked Slovan (5-12) in Piestany 84-51. The game was mostly controlled by Piestanske C.. Slovan was better in third quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Slovan to just 3 points in fourth quarter. Piestanske C. dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Slovan's 32. They outrebounded Slovan 40-20 including a 30-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Nadia Parker (191-87, college: USC) stepped up and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) for the winners and her fellow American import guard Monica Engelman (180-91, college: Kansas) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Parker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Piestanske C. players scored in double figures. Guard Lena Slezarikova (175-93) responded with 18 points and forward Simona Marcova (175-94) scored 12 points. Slovan's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Piestanske C. maintains second place with 13-2 record having four points less than leader Good Angels. Slovan lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Banska Bystrica and BAM Poprad. Piestanske C. will play against MBK Ruzomberok (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Slovan will play against Banska Bystrica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
