Regular Season Round 13: Giorgo Tesi PT - Umana VE 70-68

A very interesting game took place in Pistoia. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Umana Venezia (7-6) to fourth ranked Giorgo Tesi PT (9-4) 70-68 on Wednesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-22. But Umana Venezia won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Umana Venezia 40-28 including 34 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico) nailed 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Ronald Moore (183-88, college: Siena) accounted for 2 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. Point guard Phil Goss (188-83, college: Drexel) came up with 18 points and point guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Umana Venezia in the defeat. Umana Venezia's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Giorgo Tesi PT keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Umana Venezia at the other side dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Giorgo Tesi PT's next round opponent will be Banco di Srd (#6) in Sassari which should be theoretically an easy game. Umana Venezia will play at home against Dolomiti En.
