A very close game took place in Changchun between Jilin Tigers and Jiangsu TX. Seventeenth ranked Jilin Tigers (6-16) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Jiangsu TX (8-14). Jilin Tigers managed to escape with a 3-point win 109-106 on Friday evening. The hosts trailed by 15 points after three quarters before their 38-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) notched a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and American-Puerto Rican center Peter Ramos (222-85) supported him with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jilin Tigers' coach Xuyong Jiang used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 37 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds by Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) did not help to save the game for Jiangsu TX. American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) added 29 points and 8 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Jilin Tigers maintains seventeenth position with 6-16 record. Loser Jiangsu TX dropped to the fourteenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Shanxi Zh. and North Control B.. Jilin Tigers will meet higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jiangsu TX will play against DongGuan Leopards (#9) and hope to secure a win.
