Top ranked Batumi (7-4) recorded its fourth loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by eighth ranked MIA (2-9) in overtime 98-95. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Batumi. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime then Batumi managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was MIA who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-11. They made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Batumi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American power forward Maurice Lewis-Briggs (203-90, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Canadian guard Emerson Murray (190-92, college: Seattle) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was international Akaki Dvalishvili (206-91) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Ukrainian forward Leonid Stefanishin (199-85) added 20 points respectively. Four MIA and five Batumi players scored in double figures. Batumi's coach Davit Ustiashvili rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains eighth position with 2-9 record. Batumi at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. MIA are looking forward to face higher ranked Energy Invest (#7) in Rustavi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Batumi will play on the road against the league's leader Kutaisi (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
