Regular Season Round 12: Rosa Radom - Stelmet ZG 88-86 OT

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Stelmet (11-2) in Radom on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Rosa (9-3) in overtime 88-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Stelmet. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But Stelmet won second period 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Stelmet used huge pressure winning it 23-20 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 11-13. Rosa made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Stelmet helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American C.J. Harris (191-91, college: Wake Forest) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and international swingman Michal Sokolowski (196-92) who added 22 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Dee Bost (188-89, college: Mississippi St., agency: Three Eye Sports) with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and international swingman Mateusz Ponitka (197-93) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rosa have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-3 record having just three points less than leader Stelmet ZG. Defending champion Stelmet still keeps top place with two games lost. Rosa are looking forward to face Trefl (#14) in Sopot in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Stelmet will play at home against Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
