Regular Season Round 28: Akita NH - Fukuoka Rizing 88-67

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (11-15) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Akita Happinets (17-7) 88-67 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-67. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Richard Roby (198-85, agency: CGL Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Noriyuki Sugasawa (192-87) who added 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Donnavan Kirk (206-91, college: Miami, FL) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets maintains second position with 17-7 record having five points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Loser Fukuoka Rizing keeps the eighth place with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
