There was a minor upset when higher ranked La Bruixa d'Or (6-7) was rolled over on the road by twelfth ranked Unicaja Malaga (6-7) 85-58 on Sunday. The game without a history. Unicaja Malaga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Unicaja Malaga especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. American guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 23 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and American-FYR Macedonian power forward Richard Hendrix (204-86, college: Alabama, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy) responded with 18 points and naturalized Dominican power forward Juan Garcia (201-89, agency: Duran International) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Unicaja Malaga moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated La Bruixa d'Or. Unicaja Malaga will face league's leader Valencia Basket on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
