Rather predictable result in Gdynia where sixth ranked Asseco (9-4) defeated 9th ranked Wilki Morskie (6-7) 71-65 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 42-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Anthony Hickey (180-92, college: Oklahoma St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (196-95) who added 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Pawel Kikowski (193-86) with 15 points and American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW, agency: Comsport) scored 10 points. Wilki Morskie's coach Marek Lukomski rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Asseco moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Anwil. Wilki Morskie at the other side keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Asseco will face bottom-ranked Polpharma (#17) in Starogard in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Wilki Morskie will play on the road against AZS Koszalin (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
