Seventh-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (11-13) gave a tough game to first ranked Kyoto Hannar. (19-5) on Sunday. The visitors from Kyoto managed to secure only ten-point victory 85-75. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game in overtime by 10 points. Kyoto Hannar. made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. Kyoto Hannar. outrebounded Iwate Big Bulls 45-29 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Iwate Big Bulls were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tyren Johnson (202-88, college: La-Lafayette) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) who added 24 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side guard Fujie Tatsunori (184-87) responded with 20 points and American forward Alandise Harris (198-90, college: Arkansas) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Kyoto Hannar. maintains first position with 19-5 record, which they share with Hamamatsu P. Iwate Big Bulls at the other side keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
