Regular Season Round 28: Sendai 89ers - Kanazawa Samuraiz 91-70

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (12-14) was outplayed on the road by first ranked Sendai 89ers (20-6) 91-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Sendai 89ers. Kanazawa Samuraiz was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sendai 89ers made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Kanazawa Samuraiz 42-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) who added 22 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and guard Tsukino Masato (178-88) scored 11 points and 7 assists. Sendai 89ers have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-6 record. Kanazawa Samuraiz lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 14 games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round. Kanazawa Samuraiz will play on the road against Okinawa GK (#4) and hope to win that game.
