Regular Season Round 28: Takamatsu FA - Niigata Albirex 73-69

There was an upset when higher ranked Niigata Albirex (16-8) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Takamatsu FA (8-16) 73-69 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Niigata Albirex won third quarter 19-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Takamatsu FA won last quarter 24-21. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jarvis Williams (198-89, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Nino Johnson (206-93, college: SE Missouri St.) who added 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Takamatsu FA players scored in double figures. Takamatsu FA's coach Tsuda Hiromichi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds and Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Takamatsu FA maintains tenth position with 8-16 record, which they share with Shinshu BW. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Takamatsu FA will have a break next round. Niigata Albirex will play at home against Osaka Evessa and hope to win that game.
