The game in Puerto Ordaz was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Guaros (3-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Gigantes (1-3). Guaros managed to secure a 8-point victory 81-73 on Monday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Gigantes won second period 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gigantes were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Damien Wilkins (198-80, college: Georgia, agency: Priority Sports) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and international power forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Harold Cazorla (175-91) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guaros moved-up to second place, which they share with Cocodrilos and Bucaneros. Loser Gigantes dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Guaros will face bottom-ranked Toros (#10) in Maracay in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gigantes will play on the road against the league's leader Marinos (#1) in Puerto La Cruz and hope to win that game.
