Regular Season Round 15: Army - Naft Abadan 74-76

Eighth-ranked Army (2-13) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Naft Abadan (11-4) in Tehran on Monday. The visitors from Abadan managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Army was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-15 charge of Naft Abadan, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for international Mohammad Jamshidi (199-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Hossein Rahmati (203-93) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Saleh Foroutannik (207-94) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Army. Five Naft Abadan and four Army players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Naft Abadan maintains second place with 11-4 record behind leader Petrochimi, which they share with Arak. Army lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Ayandeh Sazan and Shah.Tabriz. Naft Abadan is looking forward to face Shahrdari Gorgan (#6) at home in the next round. Army will play against Samen in Mash'had and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
