Very expected game when 11th ranked Hapoel Holon (3-9) was defeated at home by third ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (10-3) 83-74. It looked good early as Hapoel Holon took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Jerusalem took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 9 points. Hapoel Jerusalem outrebounded Hapoel Holon 40-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) nailed 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and international forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) accounted for 11 points and 12 rebounds. Five Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized American power forward Isaac Rosefelt (204-85, college: St.Thomas) added 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for Hapoel Holon in the defeat. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Maccabi T-A. Hapoel Holon lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against league's second-placed Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Holon will play on the road against Maccabi Ashdod (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
